Kontron, a global provider of cloud and carrier-class integrated infrastructure platforms, revealed  its centerpiece reference solution of virtualized business services that includes Fortinet’s FortiGate-VM next-generation virtual firewall appliances for complete enterprise network security.

The end-to-end vCPE demonstration will be on display at the Kontron Stand 5H, Hall 5, during Mobile World Congress – February 27 to March 2, 2017 – in Barcelona, Spain.

From carrier cloud to CPE, the customer premise demonstration features key NFV infrastructure components – including the FortiGate-VM – that reside on the same Kontron SYMKLOUD OpenStack Platform, in addition to other services running on a Kontron SYMKLOUD entry point branch device.

The FortiGate next generation virtual firewall was selected for its rapid provisioning, east-west traffic visibility, and unlimited scalability. When integrated with the Kontron SYMKLOUD OpenStack Platform – which enables the deployment of OpenStack environments in mere hours, not days – communication service providers (CSPs) can dramatically accelerate their NFVi field trials and ‘open services’ roll-outs.

“Installing and configuring the FortiGate-VM on our Kontron SYMKLOUD OpenStack hardware solution was seamless,” said Benoit Robert, head of strategy and marketing, Kontron, Communications, Business. “Fortinet has developed a sophisticated means to consolidate all the necessary security features enterprises need, whether by physical or virtual platforms.”

“Security is a critical component that enables CSPs to deliver leading business and consumer services,” said John Maddison, SVP Products & Solutions at Fortinet. “Effectively securing the current software-defined revolution requires close cooperation with knowledgeable partners. Kontron is a prime example of a partner whose product offerings, expertise and collaboration with Fortinet are helping us to drive security for software-defined solutions.” – Communications Today Bureau
