Following the latest developments in the Etisalat Nigeria saga, reports claim that the Nigerian telco, Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services which trades as Etisalat Nigeria has now re-branded under the new name 9mobile. Though the company has yet to officially confirm this, according to several news sources, staff across the country are being notified of the change, a move that follows what has been a turbulent time in the company’s history.  The news of the company’s unpaid USD 1.2billion loan, led to failed refinancing talks with Nigerian local financiers, which then led to the withdrawal of all UAE shareholders & board members, senior management and the banks moved to take over its shareholding.  Earlier this week the Etisalat Group, parent company of Etisalat Nigeria terminated its management agreement with the company and gave its interim management team three weeks to phase out its brand from the country. Speaking to Reuters early this week Boya Olusanya, the new CEO reassured its customers to profitability and that these changes will not affect operations saying: "Our mandate is to make sure the business runs as profitably as it can. What is most important now is to ... ensure that the business runs and meets its obligations.” – Global Telecom Business
