LG has already confirmed that it will not launch the flagship G7 smartphone at Mobile World Congress later this week. The South Korean smartphone maker instead plans to launch an updated version of its last flagship, V30 smartphone with its own AI assistant.
The updated V30 smartphone though won’t be the only device from the company at MWC 2018. LG also plans to launch the 2018 edition of its K-series smartphones, which it says will close the gap between mass-tier devices and flagship offerings. There will be 2018 editions of K8 and K10, and LG says these devices will go on sale in Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
With the 2018 edition of K8 and K10, LG is focusing on delivering an improved camera setup with features such as high speed autofocus and noise reduction for better low-light photography. Both the phones will come preloaded with new camera features such as Flash Jump Shot, which LG says will snap a photo every three seconds to capture up to 20 photos and stitch them together into a GIF for easy sharing on social media platforms.
“LG’s 2018 K Series range of smartphones is focused on delivering even more value to consumers looking for the right device that fits their lifestyle and needs,” said Ha Jeung-uk, senior vice president and business unit leader for LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
The LG K10 is the premium of the two models, and it features metal unibody design with a U-frame allowing for a sleek look. In terms of specifications, it will be powered by an octa-core 1.5GHz processor, and sport a 5.3-inch HD display. The smartphone will be announced in three variants named K10, K10+ and K10α that will differ mainly in terms of memory and camera setup.
The K10 will come with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, while K10+ will bump the memory to 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Both the phones will feature a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The K10α, on the other hand, will launch with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. All the three phones will support expandable storage up to 2TB via microSD card slot.
The LG K10 models will run Android 7.1.2 Nougat, and support connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and 4G LTE. The smartphone will be supported by a 3,000mAh battery, and will be available in three colors including Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue and Terra Gold.
LG K8 (2018) features a 5-inch HD display, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage along with support for expandable storage up to 32GB via microSD card slot. The smartphone will be powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, and will run Android 7.1.2 Nougat. It features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. – BGR
