Oppo has added a new smartphone to its product portfolio- the Oppo A71. Priced at Rs. 12,900, this smartphone will not come into the company’ selfie centric smartphones list, instead, Oppo is highlighting the metal body and Android Nougat software in the A71.

The Oppo A71, just like other Oppo smartphones features mediocre specifications. The smartphone has a 5.2-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The screen also has a 2.5D curved glass on top. At the heart of the phone, we have a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6750 chipset, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.

The internal storage in the phone is further expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card. The phone comes with Mali T860-MP2 GPU graphics card. Also, the chipset is clocked at 1.5GHz. Connectivity options in the smartphone include dual-SIM, 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, and USB OTG. The phone still has a micro USB port and not USB Type-C port.

Another huge surprise with the Oppo A71 is that it doesn’t feature a fingerprint sensor. Even a half priced Xiaomi Redmi 4 offers a fingerprint scanner, but Oppo ditched it for some unknown reasons. Keeping the entire show running is a 3000mAh battery.

Optics wise, the Oppo A71 comes with a 13MP rear camera with PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus), LED flash, a 1/3.06-inch sensor for decent low-light shots. The rear camera also has Multi-Frame Denoising technology, which reduces the noise in images and videos shot in low-light situations. Unlike other Oppo smartphones, the A71 comes with a much smaller 5MP selfie camera, and the camera app includes various camera filters and features.

Overall, the Oppo A71 is a clear disappointment especially when we consider other options such as Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Xiaomi Mi A1 available in the same price range. The smartphone will be available in gold and black hues. Starting today, you can purchase the Oppo A71 in any offline and online store across the country. – Telecom Talk
