OnePlus has finally started rolling out the official and stable Android 8.0 Oreo-based OxygenOS 5.0.2 update to the OnePlus 5T. The Chinese company clearly stated that it’s an incremental rollout, meaning only a small batch of users will receive the update first. Do make a note that it’s not an Open Beta update which means that OnePlus 5T users on stable Android Nougat based OxygenOS ROM will receive the update. OnePlus confirmed that it will begin broader rollout of the update in a few days from now.

OnePlus released the OxygenOS Open Beta 3 update to the 5T, which brought in new iPhone X-like gesture controls, new SMS categorisation feature designed for the Indian OnePlus users, and a new toggle to change the phone call pick up gesture.

We’re not sure whether the stable OxygenOS 5.0.2 update includes these features, and OnePlus did not mention the same in the official changelog.

Nevertheless, the stable Oreo update is finally rolling out to the OnePlus 5T users after a long wait. Initially, OnePlus said that it would rollout the Oreo update in early January, but the rollout has started on the final day of January.

If you want to install the update right away, install any VPN application and change the location to either Germany or Canada. But we suggest you to wait for the update as there were several OnePlus 5 users who reported several bugs after installing the Oreo update. – Telecom Talk
