State-run telecom operator BSNL announces to extend its existing free Sunday calling facility by another three months, which is until April 2018. The free Sunday calling facility is an offer available for the BSNL landline customers only, under which, the subscriber can make free calls to any other network operator only on Sundays.

The State-run telecom operator issued a statement on Saturday confirming that the free Sunday calling offer won't be pulled back due to popular demand from its subscribers. The statement, as obtained by Telecom Talk notes, "BSNL is happy to announce that Sunday Free Calling Facility from BSNL Landline to any other phone, any other operator, which was supposed to be closed wef 1.2.2018, will continue to be FREE for another Three Months. This decision is taken after considering popular demand from all corners of this country and from all strata of society." The change in the free Sunday calling offer is reportedly already effective across the country.

Commenting on the offer, a BSNL official earlier said that the scheme basically aims at encouraging people to use landlines when at home and in turn save phone bills. – India Today
