Reliance Jio's entry into the telecom market with low cost mobile internet data and unlimited call packs has forced many telecom operators to join the bandwagon. Other telecom operators such as Bharti Airtel and Vodafone are also offering 4G data plans and unlimited calling at lowest rates.
Reliance Jio Rs 399 plan
In August, Mukesh Ambani led Jio extended the benefits of its Dhan Dhana Dhan offer with new plans costing Rs 349 and Rs 399 as the benefits under its Summer Surprise scheme comes to an end. The Rs 349 plan offer Jio Prime members 20GB unlimited data at 128kbps with no cap on data consumption for 56 days while the Rs 399 plan offers 84GB data (1GB per day at 128kbps) for 84 days.
Airtel Rs 399 plan
To compete with the new Rs 399 Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Offer, Bharti Airtel also came up with its own Rs 399 prepaid plan, offering the same 1GB data per day with 84-day validity. Under company's new Rs 399 plan, Airtel prepaid subscribers get unlimited local and STD calls and 84GB data with a fair usage policy of 1GB per day. However, the unlimited calling plan is restricted to 1,000 minutes of local or STD calls on mobile or landline per week. Post consumption of 1,000 minutes, Airtel prepaid customers will be charged at 10 paise per minute for on-net calls and 30 paise per minute on other networks. However, Airtel's new plan is only available to its prepaid subscribers using 4G SIM cards and can't be clubbed with any other existing plans.
Vodafone Rs 346 plan
Soon after Jio and Airtel started the tariff war, Vodafone joined in with Rs 346recharge plan that provides 1GB 4G data per day, bundled calls to any network (300 free minutes per day, 1,200 per week) with 56-day validity. Vodafone has also launched a 'Campus Survival Kit', priced at Rs 352. It comes with 1GB of 4G data per day for 84 days, as well as discount coupons and a free messenger bag. However, you need to purchase the Rs 445 recharge for the first 84-dayperiod, and only after that the recharge value will go down to Rs 352.
Vodafone also launched a new plan, the First Recharge (FR) - 445, aimed at new 4G prepaid users in Maharashtra and Goa. The plan which costs Rs 445 offers 84GB of data and unlimited local and STD calling over 84 days to those with 4G handsets. Those without 4G phones, the same plan offers 2GB of data with unlimited local and STD calls over 35 days.-TOI
